Ali's breakthrough came in the year 1990 in the year 1990, when Ali made Ashley Banks a reality in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It was a huge success with Will Smith and Ali as the main characters. The show was an enormous hit which ranked the show 12th on NBC's list of programs that received the most viewers between 1990-1992. Furthermore, the show went on to be awarded two highly popular Golden Globe nominations.
